Go Dotty!

Even if they are inspiring and radiate glamour, perfume ad campaigns always tell a similar story and it is this story behind the essence what captivates our attention.

There is a designer who seems to have broken the molds since the launch of his very first fragrance Daisy. Marc Jacobs has showed there is a place for creativity and dreams in this mass selling industry and has always given importance to the slighest details: Jacobs himself is responsible for the packaging of his 2 perfume bottles -Daisy (2007) and Lola (2009)-.

Designed wisely, both perfume bottles perfectly reflect his style, keeping that feeling of high luxury with the glass bottles and gold accents, while still incorporating the flowers on the top that he is so well known for.

He has done it again. Jacobs is a master of packaging!

His new energetic and fun fragrance Dot is said to be released in July. Although it is very different from Lola and Daisy, it looks appealing and perfect for the summer.

Dot's dot-bedecked bottle is supposed to evoke a "ladybug with butterflies alighting on it". It is a ladybird inspired and glass rounded bottle, red and black polka dots and wings on the cap, with those typical gold accents we have talked about.

The scent profile, on the other hand, seems to be reminiscent of Lola's, using  the same vanilla and creamy musk base, but adding some sweet floral notes like honeysuckle, jasmine and orange blossom. It also has coconut water notes, suggesting that it may be a more tropical scent than its predecessors. We will have to wait until July to be having a big old bug sitting on our dressing tables.

 

Things you should know about Dot:

✔ Juergen Teller photographed Codie Young for the ads and they all will be featured in all the September issues.

✔ The fragrance will cost between $48 and $89 or 63€ and 115€.

✔ The body lotion is $45, and the shower gel is $40 (56€ and 50€).

✔ The fragrance will launch in the U.S. and U.K. in July, and then globally in August.
